Privacy Policy

Overview
Therapy Aftercare ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Therapy Aftercare mobile application and website (the "Service"). The Service provides personalized, self-help mental health content — including coping skills, reading passages, audio affirmations, guided breathing, and Emotional Freedom Tapping (EFT) sessions — based on brief emotional check-ins.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, the choices you have, and the steps we take to protect it. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, you should not use the Service.
Not Medical Advice
Therapy Aftercare is for informational, educational, and self-help purposes only. It is not a medical device, a substitute for professional diagnosis or treatment, or a crisis service. The emotional check-in and aftercare plans are generated to support self-reflection — they are not clinical assessments. If you are in crisis or believe you may be in danger, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line (in the US and Canada, call or text 988).
Information We Collect
Information you provide: When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password (stored as a one-way hash). If you contact us, we collect the name and message you submit.
Check-in and aftercare data: Each time you complete an emotional check-in, we process the feeling you share to generate a personalized aftercare plan. The plans you generate and any items you save are stored so you can return to them.
Subscription and payment information: If you upgrade to a paid plan, payment processing is handled by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not store your full card number; Stripe receives and stores it. We retain a record of your subscription status and plan.
Usage and device information: We automatically collect limited information about how you use the Service, such as the features you open, the times of your visits, and approximate device and browser information. This helps us understand aggregate usage and improve the Service.
Information from authentication: When you sign in using a third-party provider such as Google, we receive the profile information you agree to share, typically your name and email address.
How We Use Information
To provide the Service: to create and maintain your account, generate aftercare plans, save your items, and play audio content.
To personalize your experience: to tailor coping skills, reading, and affirmations to the feeling you share in your check-in.
To operate and improve the Service: to analyze aggregate usage, troubleshoot, and develop new features.
To communicate with you: to send service-related notices, respond to your support requests, and deliver transactional messages about your subscription.
To protect the Service: to detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues.
Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Your saved items and generated plans remain available until you delete them or close your account. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data from our active systems within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it for legal, accounting, or security purposes.
Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest, restricted internal access, and regular review of our practices. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information to the best of our ability.
Your Rights and Choices
Access and update: You can view and update your account information in Settings at any time.
Delete your data: You can delete saved items individually, or delete your entire account and associated data from Settings. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
Manage your check-ins: You are not required to complete a check-in to use the breathing or tapping features. You may decline to share a feeling at any time.
Notifications: You can manage device notification preferences through your operating system settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local privacy laws (such as the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, or to opt out of certain processing). To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.
Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
International Users
The Service is hosted in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US, which may have different data protection laws than your country. By using the Service, you consent to that transfer.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by email. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or your personal information, you can reach us through the Contact page in the app, or by the contact details available there. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe.
